The team has recently welcomed back into the membership fold two very experienced former team call Out list members, Gyles Denn and Neil Ramsbottom, who both left the team in September 2008.
Gyles Denn, aged 33, first joined the team on 23rd April 1997, leaving due to employment elsewhere, over eleven years later on 16th September 2008.
Gyles who is now a private medical service Medic / Consultant / Coach is a former Forensic Officer with the Home Office, and during his time with the Bolton MRT produced a document on this subject of Forensic Protocols for MRTs which a number of MRTs subsequently adopted.
Gyles, who is an accomplished rock climber, and in his past service in the team served two periods on the Team Council as our Equipment Officer (Ropes and Stretchers), rejoined the team on 31st August 2011.
Neil Ramsbottom, aged 29, originally joined the team on 10th May 2003, leaving after just over five years service on 18th September 2008, to go to University for three years, and with his course now finished he has requested and been accepted back in to the team as of Wednesday 12th October 2011.
Neil like Gyles is a climber and also like Gyles brings to the team a wealth of mountaineering experience, both in the UK and abroad.
The team welcomes both back in to the team, which now gives us forty seven operational Call Out List members (Inclusive of five members on our ’Reserve List’)
We also have thirteen members in our Support Group, which assists the team on searches and larger scale rescues by providing catering support, generally helping the team on non operational tasks, and greatly assists with our fundraising.
As of today the team can boast of a total membership, all actively involved in the team, of sixty individuals aged from nineteen to sixty nine, from such diverse professions as an Arboricultural Operative, to a Fireman, Company Directors to Sales Assistants, electricians to a Disc Jockey, Teachers to an Outdoor Pursuits Instructor, and a fair sprinkling of retired folk.
