Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

12th November 2011

At 17.20hrs early this evening we were paged by Lancashire Constabulary regards an incident in Tockholes / Roddlesworth woodlands.

As our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE was gathering further information from Lancashire Constabulary, news came into the Police that the incident no longer required MRT assistance, and the team was stood down by pager at 17.27hrs.

Our Team Leader was then informed that a child and father were missing in the Turton and Entwistle area on a country walk, with the request that the team go to ’stand by,’ whilst the Police collected more information.

A full team ’Stand By’ page was made at 17.27 / 28hrs. (With team member Steve Fletcher going to our Base / HQ to prepare search management mapping)

A Police Air Support Unit helicopter which had been involved in the first incident was dispatched to the Turton and Entwistle area and shortly after 18.00hrs located the missing child and father, using the helicopters ’NiteSun’ powerful on board searchlight.

At 18.13hrs the team ’Stand By’ was cancelled by pager.

Both calls are recorded here for information purposes only and do not feature in our incident figures.
