This evening the team at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ hosted a visit by Bolton East Explorer Scouts, being met by very experienced team members Ged Clarke and Mike Marsh.
Eight explorer scouts and two leaders arrived at 19:30 and spent the next two hours finding out what a mountain rescue team does. The first part of the evening was led by Mike Marsh; he presented the MREW promotional video and the Team’s recently updated PowerPoint presentation. The scouts quickly became aware of the wide range of services provided by rescue organizations in the UK. Ged Clarke then explained and demonstrated the contents of our Trauma Kit and each scout had a brief experience of basic life support procedures. The explorer scouts then had a tour of the base, including a quick ‘break’ for tea and biscuits and a review of the contents of our landrovers (BM1 and BM3). The developing wet and breezy night prevented any reasonable opportunity to do an outdoor activity. The evening finished with a demonstration of the blue lights and our lovely quiet sirens!!
We would like to thank the Bolton East Explorers Scouts for their kind donation of £30 to the team. We look forward to meeting them again soon.
