At 15:29 this afternoon the team was paged by Lancashire Constabulary who were requesting our assistance in the search for a missing walker in the vicinity of Darwen Moor and Roddlesworth.
A male had been reported as overdue from a moorland walk by a concerned family member, and with additional concern due to the man’s medical history, an urgent response was required. The male’s planned route covered his home address (in Darwen) to Darwen Tower and back again, which would normally have taken 1-2 hours to complete. After not being seen for over three hours, the concern for his welfare was completely genuine and so the Police were contacted and the team was duly requested by Police.
With weather conditions involving low cloud, drizzle and cold temperatures, the team was immediately called out at 15:35, however we were very quickly stood down at 15:43 with the good news that the male had just turned up at his home address, safe and well.
Ten team members confirmed they were responding to this incident.
