At 01.38hrs this morning we were called out by Lancashire Constabulary in regards to the developing search for a missing 41 year old Darwen woman, in circumstances giving Police concern for her welfare.

Twenty four team members joined Lancashire Constabulary Officers in the early morning search in temperatures of minus 5 in searching areas around the Astley Bank Hotel, and the Height Side area of Darwen, Lancashire.

The Lancashire Constabulary Air Support Unit Helicopter had previously searched a large area of Darwen Moor and its associated reservoirs.

We were joined on the search by husband and wife team, SARDA (Wales) Iain Nicholson / Mountain Rescue Trail Dog Mij, and SARDA (England) Alison Nicholson / Mountain Rescue Air Scenting Dog Floss, both from Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team.

By 07.00hrs the mountain rescue element of the search was concluded, with Police enquiries continuing as to the whereabouts of the missing woman.

update: We understand mid-this morning the missing woman turned up in a location on the outskirts of Darwen.
