On Sunday 5th February 2012, six Team Call Out list members were involved in directly assisting two NWAS Paramedics in the treatment and evacuation of a 60 year old lady, Mrs Jean Sharman from cottages near Bradshaw Cricket Club, Bolton. (Please see Incident Report 16-2012 dated 5th February 2012)
During the course of this incident two members were redirected by NWAS (Manchester) Control to another separate incident, leaving their four colleagues and the two NWAS Paramedics to continue dealing with this serious medical incident.
Sadly we subsequently discovered that Mrs Jean Sharman had unfortunately suffered a serious brain haemorrhage at the time of our involvement and very sadly passed away a few hours later once she had arrived at Royal Bolton Hospital.
This evening commencing at 19.00hrs the team welcomed to its Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ, Mr Andrew (Andy) Sharman husband of the late Jean Sharman, family members and friends, who all came along to hand over a substantial donation raised to the memory of Jean Sharman.
Present alongside Andy, was Jeans brother Richard, her brother Ron, Sister Jill, Nephews Daniel and Thomas, Niece Nicola, Brother in law Craig, and family close friends Len and Marion, Alan and Marie.
Together they handed over a very large number of individual donations to the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, made in the memory of Jean Sharman, which together totalled a very thoughtful and incredibly kind £1,055.00.
On behalf of all the Team Call Out list members present during the visit (Chairman Craig Lamb, Diane Blakeley, Paul Copley, Chris Tennant, Steve Fletcher and Ken Oakes) and Support Group member Gillian Gregory, our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE sincerely thanked Andy and his family and friends for coming along to say thank you to the team and for such a substantial donation.
Of course our thanks are also sent to all the many kind family, friends, associates and colleagues of the late Jean Sharman who made individual donations to the Bolton MRT in her memory.
A Dedication Plaque was then unveiled at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ dedicated to Mrs Jean Sharman.
Craig Lamb, our Team Chairman, then thanked all present in turn, before joining other team members in giving those present a tour of our Base / HQ and vehicles.
With the kind permission of Andy Sharman, the Bolton MRT will be using this very thoughtful donation (Which including the below reported additional donation of £10.00 stands at a total of £1,065.00) against the purchase of two brand new specialist Mountain Rescue Vacuum Full Length Mattresses. When purchased Andy has kindly agreed to re-revisit the team with family and friends, as these items are dedicated into team service.
