18th March 2012

On Saturday 9th July 2011, Bolton Mountain Rescue Team were invited to attend Tockholes Village Gala as the organising Committee had selected the team as their Charity Beneficiary of 2011.

Today, three team call-out members travelled in team Land Rover BM2, to the Rock Inn at Tockholes. Chris Tennant, Team HQ Base and Catering Officer, John Dickinson, Team Call-Out Member and Elaine Gilliland, Team Training Officer, joined by Steve Nelson, Team Call-Out Member and SARDA Wales Trainee Dog Handler and trainee Search Dog Boris, to meet with Mick Brown and other members of the Tockholes Village Gala Committee to receive a fantastic donation of £1,000.

The 2011 Tockholes Village Gala attracted a very large number of visitors to this delightful village, nestling on the edge of the moors, and was attended from start to finish by villagers and guests from further afield.

Full credit must go to the Tockholes Village Gala 2011 organisers for the wide range of activities at the Gala, including stalls, an excellent Brass Band, displays (Birds of Prey, Pet Handling, Belly and Irish Dancing) and competitions, including ’Welly’ Throwing, Tug of War and Football matches.

The whole team membership would like to express sincere thanks to all involved in organising the 2011 Tockholes Village Gala for choosing Bolton Mountain Rescue Team as their Charity Beneficiary for 2011, specifically for their extremely generous donation and for allowing the team to display equipment and join in the activities.

Due to the Queen’s birthday celebrations this year, and the Olympics, the Gala Committee have decided not to hold a Gala this year, and so we all look forward to the team fully supporting the 2013 Gala!
