This evening, long serving and very experienced team Call Out list member Fred Taylor has left the team, due to increasing full time work commitments.
Fred aged 63, of Swinton, first joined the team in April 2002, and brought to the team a considerable amount of skills, not least his past experiences as a commercial diver and current sports diver, and his various boat handling skills, all of which proved useful to the team regarding water search and rescue.
A heavy goods vehicle driver when he joined the team, Fred also brought to the team his vehicle driving skills and particularly his vehicle recovery skills.
Besides being a founder member and driving force behind the team developing an integral formal water search and rescue team, Fred was an enthusiastic member in the team regarding vertical rope skills and crag rescue.
Fred served time on the Team Council both as Equipment Officer with responsibility for ropes and stretchers, and as our team Training Officer.
Over his ten years in the team Fred has been a stalwart supporter of the complete range of team activities, and until his current work commitments, was always a dependable face to be seen on virtually every call out.
Within our regional body, the MPSRO, Fred held the post at one time of Regional Water (Search and Rescue) Officer.
Fred also assisted on our Annual Foundation Courses for new team members, freely passing on his considerable knowledge to all, something he also did within the team itself.
All in the team pass their best wishes on to Fred for the future, and thank him for his considerable contribution to the team over the ten years of his dedicated and committed membership.
