On Wednesday 22nd February this year we were called out to go to the aid of Mrs Imelda Wood, a member of Greater Manchester and High Peak Wednesday Walkers (The Ramblers Association) who slipped and suffered a fractured leg in the area of Turn Lowe on Darwen Moor, resulting in a rescue response involving the NWAA Helicopter, NWAS and the Bolton MRT.
On Tuesday 13th March this year we reported on the very large £500.00 donation made personally by Mrs Imelda Wood as a thank you to the team for going to her assistance.
Today our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE received a very kind letter from Mike Lyons, Area Treasurer, for The Ramblers Association, Greater Manchester and High Peak Area, accompanying a £213.00 donation for the Bolton MRT.
Mike Lyons in his letter states;
“We were very impressed by the prompt action of the emergency services, when your members attended the accident, because one of the Greater Manchester and High Peak Wednesday Walkers fell and broke her leg on Wednesday 22nd February 2012.”
“Realising that your organisation relies on charitable donations, and in order to express the gratitude of our members, we have asked for donations and have great pleasure in donating the sum of £113.00.”
“In addition our parent organisation the Area Executive Committee have donated from Area funds a further £100.00, and we have pleasure in enclosing a cheque for £213.00.”
“Thank you for your prompt action and the support we received.”
The whole team membership extends its gratitude to all in The Ramblers Association, Greater Manchester and High Peak Area, and the Area Executive Committee for their thoughtful kindness and support of the Bolton MRT in making this appreciated donation.
