The Bolton MRT and other MRTs operating within Greater Manchester, put great emphasise on their excellent working relationships with the Fire, Police and Ambulance services operating in the county.
This evening a meeting took place attended by our Team Leader, Garry Rhodes MBE, Andrew Simpson Team Leader of Rossendale and Pendle MRT, Pete Goble Deputy Team Leader of Rossendale and Pendle MRT, and Mick Nield team Leader of Oldham MRT, with Peter Ballen, Acting Sector Manager, NWAS (Lancashire and Cumbria area), Martin Hawksworth, NWAS Manchester Control Room Manager,
Andrew Redgrave NWAS / MRT Liaison Officer, and Grant Baxter, NWAS HART representative.
The evening meeting was primarily to discuss introducing the SARCALL system of mobilising teams in Greater Manchester, and to further discuss our already established call out contact systems, and how these could be better developed.
The continuing role of MRTs operating in Greater Manchester in support of NWAS was also reappraised, again with ways explored of how to better an already excellent and very long established operational working relationship.
This meeting specifically with NWAS (Manchester) sits alongside our quarterly Greater Manchester Emergency Services Group meetings, between the MRTs, Fire, Police and Ambulance.
In Greater Manchester there is a fantastic operational incident multi agency / joint working system in place between the MRTs and the Fire, Police and Ambulance, alongside such specilist resources as the North West Air Ambulance, the North West Air Operations Group (Police) and NWAS HART.
It is by holding meetings of this nature that such seamless joint working can be further developed.
