Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

25th May 2012

At 15.39hrs this sunny afternoon, we were paged by a GMP Missing Person Search Manager regards a missing person in the Horwich area.
The pager call was answered by our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, who established from GMP that a search involving the assistance of the team was a possibility later in the afternoon / early evening.

In consultation with GMP it was decided to place the team on home / workplace standby, with a pager call to that effect being sent at 15.50hrs.
By 16.00hrs GMP had been informed our mountain rescue specialist ‘Trailing Dog’ was immediately available (Handler Steve Nelson and Trailing Dog Boris) should their search as it was at this stage require such.

GMP investigations continued regards the missing man, with our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE liaising with GMP regards the teams involvement, it seemed more and more likely we would be called to search some open land, wooded and parkland areas, when at circa 19.07hrs our Team Leader was informed the missing person had returned back to his home, and at 19.09hrs our standby was cancelled.

This is recorded here for information only and this request to the team does not feature in our ‘Incident’ listings.
