This afternoon our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE visited the headquarters of dabs.com plc, at Wingates Industrial Estate in Westhoughton, Bolton.
Garry met up with Bolton MRT team member Steve Fletcher, who works in the IT Department at dabs.com, and also with Michelle Helme, dabs.com’s Marketing Manager.
In 2010, dabs.com staff decided to support a local charity by holding charity “dress-down” days once a month. A number of very worthy smaller charities were put onto a shortlist, which was then voted on by the staff. Happily for us, Bolton MRT received the most votes from amongst the staff and dabs.com hosted some of the Bolton MRT collection boxes at each of their office buildings.
After around 18 months of being dabs.com’s nominated “dress-down” charity, the total in the collecting boxes came to a fantastic £1,644.91, which was presented by Michelle to Garry and Steve today. The team has earmarked this money specifically for the purchase of IT hardware to equip the team’s forthcoming Control Vehicle (plans are progressing nicely at the moment!)

In conjunction with its sister companies BT Engage IT and BT Business Direct, dabs.com employees continue to support charities through sponsored events and monthly dress-down days, with members of staff nominating a different charity on each occasion.
As photographs were being taken of the donation handover our Team Leader’s mobile phone rang with a request from GMP for the team’s assistance with a developing search for a missing elderly man – see above report!
Footnote: shortly after receiving the above donation, we received a further £48.38 donation from dabs.com raised from a recent raffle, which brings the total raised to a fantastic £1,693.49.
