Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

25th September 2012

Today saw Bolton MRT member Dave Marsh and Trainee DVSD Sasha meeting up with our colleagues from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, namely USAR and Fire Investigation Dog Handler Mike Dewar with Echo and Trainee Search Dog Ace, and a ’new kid on the block’ by way of GMFRS Claire Louth with her two reprobate Trainees Ember and Buster.

Ember is a two year plus old collie who was plucked out of obscurity from a dog rescue centre and Buster is an 8 month old yellow labrador.

Claire, who is stationed at GMFRS Stockport Fire Station, came across for initial search dog training and handling from both Mike and Dave.

It is hoped that she will continue through to get both dogs assessed and working for the benefit of people in the Greater Manchester area who may need such services.

The weather did not lend a hand as it was very wet and misty throughout, although it can be said that all the trainees successfully achieved what was required and will continue with their training.

Further updates will appear as and when, so keep watching this website.
