This evening very experienced Bolton MRT call out list members Diane Blakeley and Neil Warburton, along with one of our Team Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicles, visited Harwood Methodist Ladies Fellowship, at Longsight Methodist Church, Harwood, Bolton.

There follows an account of the visit by Diane Blakeley

We had been invited along to give a talk by Neil’s former primary school teacher Mrs Gerad. She welcomed us and before long Neil and Mrs Gerad were chatting away by the old farms round Harwood and the people they knew. Before long we realised that I also knew some of those mentioned as I also now live in Harwood. Approximately 30 members arrived and were keen to hear more about our work.

I started with a presentation explaining a bit about the work the team does, its history and some of our recent call outs. Neil then explained and demonstrated some of the rescue and medical equipment we use including the Trauma Sac, cas bag and vacuum mattress. We ended with a film about Bolton MRT which included photographs of various call outs, that I recently made. No surprise the biggest “aww” was when Search Dog Boris appeared in the film. We ended with questions before taking the opportunity to chat with members over a cup of tea.

Some members then came outside to see one of our Landrover emergency ambulances, Bolton 2.

The evening was a great success and ended with the launch of Harwood Methodist Ladies Fellowship support of Bolton MRT, as their Charity of the Year 2102 – 2013.
