On Sunday 7th October 2012, the Bolton MRT was involved alongside Cheshire SART (Who we called upon for extra search personnel) and GMP resources, in the search for a missing man.
Unfortunately the search had a tragic outcome with the discovery of the missing mans body in the area during the search operation.
Today our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE received the following very kind letter from GMP Russ Jackson, Divisional Commander, North Manchester Division.
“Dear Mr Rhodes, I am the Divisional Commander of North Manchester Division of Greater Manchester Police which covers the north part of the City of Manchester and the City Centre.”
“Your team kindly helped my Division out in the search for a missing person and I wanted to put on record my gratitude and appreciation for your outstanding work.”
“I’m always incredibly aware of the work of the Mountain Rescue Teams, their voluntary status and the efforts and risks members put in.”
At our recent Open Day I was delighted to meet several of the Mountain Rescue personnel and had a look at one of your Land Rovers. I was hugely impressed by the equipment and professionalism and also struck at the cost and the fact that clearly you work only on charitable donations.”
“I am therefore especially indebted to your support to Greater Manchester Police and the North Manchester Division in particular recently, and have pleasure in enclosing a small donation of some £200.00 to cover some of the costs you incurred in helping us out and the community which we jointly serve.”
“With kind regards and best wishes, Yours Sincerely, Russ Jackson, North Manchester Divisional Commander.”
The team would like to extend its thanks to Divisional Commander Russ Jackson for such kind comments and the sentiments expressed within his letter.
We would also like to thank Greater Manchester Police, North Manchester Division for their kindness in making this appreciated £200.00 donation to the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
