Today the team was honoured to have been invited to attend and provide standby rescue cover and first aid provision for the English Schools’ Athletic Association 32nd Cross Country Cup Final, held at Canon Slade C of E School, Bolton.

(A full report on our involvement at this event can be viewed below today)
Twenty four Bolton MRT Team Call Out list members attended today, alongside seven of our new Probationary Team members.

Under the guidance of our Deputy Team Leader Geoff Seddon and very experienced team member Steve Fletcher, team members were positioned all around the event courses, complimenting the Event Marshal Teams others were present at a central ‘holding point.’

We also had on hand all four of our Land Rover Mountain rescue Ambulance vehicles and our Team Minibus Ambulance.

Shortly before the first race commenced at 13.00hrs, the team was called out to a separate unrelated incident at 12.22hrs, meaning two Land Rovers and a small number of team personnel were sent from Canon Slade School to respond to this incident. (See website news report ‘Incident 86/2012’)

In total today team members present responded to thirteen incidents requiring their skills and resources.

These were mostly minor type injuries with most being referred to the on site Doctor (His presence being separate to our attendance on scene)
Such injuries treated included shortness of breath, running shoe spike injuries, twisted knees and ankles, a nose bleed, headache, a collapse and asthma.
