We have recently looked at our incident statistics for 2012 and though the following figures can only ever be an average representation of the true time the Bolton MRT has spent on operational incidents, the following figures may be of interest to our readers…

• On 34 search operations, we have expended 2,517.25 person-hours (which equates to 105 days)
• On 65 rescue operations, we have expended 1,410.75 person-hours (which equates to 58.75 days)
• This gives us a grand total of 3,928 hours (163.6 days) on 101 operational incidents during 2012 to date

Astute readers may realise 34 searches and 65 rescues adds up to 99 incidents when our figure is 101 – don’t ask – after spending time collating the above figures somehow our total incident figure didn’t tally up – too much Christmas spirit!

The above figures do not include member’s time when stood down responding, nor do they include member’s time spent cleaning vehicles, replenishing kit, and retrieveing equipment items from hospitals post-incident. This in itself represents a vast amount of time.

In 2012 we have also provided standby rescue cover at 18 events including fell races, a cross-country event, and a large Scout hike event.

Add to the above time spent training, the administration of the team, lectures, and fundraising, and it all equates to a huge amount of commitment and dedication shown to the team by team members in the service of our local community.

We are all grateful to our families, partners and friends for their understanding of our member’s commitment and dedication and also to our member’s many employers who so freely and with full understanding allow for time-off to respond to incidents.
