Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

27th January 2013

This evening our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE received the following interesting email from Volunteer Dane Smith of the British Red Cross, in regards to our Incident 23 of Friday 25th January 2013, the very kind comments of which are self explanatory;

“Dear Bolton Mountain Rescue, I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your teams assistance on Friday evening. Due to the adverse weather we were asked to provide stand by assistance for NWAS. We were tasked with responding to a casualty in the Horwich area of Bolton and whilst on route became stuck in the deep snow. Your team quickly came to our rescue and whilst some of the team and one of your vehicles tried to pull out our ambulance, myself and my colleague along with our kit jumped in to another one of your land rover ambulances and were transported to the casualty’s home address. The 4×4 MRT Ambulance made short work of the snow and we were able to get to the casualty’s address in record time. Once on scene myself and my colleague were able to assess the casualty’s injuries and the incident was not as serious as first thought. After treating the casualty we later returned to your HQ for a well deserved hot drink and biscuits before being reunited with our ambulance that had been rescued from the snow.

Myself and my colleague would like to thank each and every one of the team that spent 45 minutes with shovels and ropes pulling our ambulance out of the snow, but more importantly for transporting us and our equipment to the casualty, without your assistance the incident could have been much worse. Please pass on my regards to the whole team who were out volunteering in the bad weather on Friday evening. It was very gratifying to see another voluntary organisation providing such a professional service in the most demanding of times.
Kind Regards, Dane Smith,

British Red Cross Volunteer.”

The whole team membership extends its thanks to Dane Smith for this very kind email of thanks.
