Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

22nd February 2013

This evening the team provided standby rescue cover for the Darwen Dashers second annual night-time fell race, the affectionately named “Mr. Sparkle’s Dark ’Un”.

Starting at 19:30 at The Royal Arms in Tockholes, a total of 62 runners took part (the maximum number for this race), with the 5 mile course taking in elements of the Tockholes Plantations and Darwen Moor, covering 702 feet of ascent.

With the headlights of the fell runners shining over the moor, 17 team members manned various checkpoints on the route, alongside the race marshals, with happily no call for our services.

With everyone safely off the moor, all runners and team members then retired to The Royal Arms at Tockholes for chip butties, which were very well received!
