Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

At 15:29 today our Team Leader Garry Rhodes was contacted directly by Lancashire Constabulary regarding a large moorland fire in the vicinity of Darwen Tower on Darwen Moor.

Garry, who was on holiday at the time in Vietnam (7 hours ahead of GMT) advised the police to contact our Deputy Team Leader Geoff Seddon.

At 15:46 this afternoon, the team were then paged by Lancashire Constabulary, to be available to possibly provide safety cover and logistic support for Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service, who were dealing with the moorland fire.

Our Deputy Team Leader, Geoff Seddon, liaised with Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service and it was determined that the team’s assistance was no longer required.

We understand up to ten LFRS fire appliances were involved in this incident.
