On Friday 16th November 2012, we were involved, under the direction of Rossendale and Pendle MRT, in a multi team large scale search operation to try and locate a missing man, 70 years old John David Rayton, in the Barnoldswick / Gisburn area of Lancashire.
On Saturday 17th November 2012, our specialist Trailing Search dog team was again involved, alongside MRT resources, including Rossendale and Pendle MRT and Bowland Pennine MRT, whilst the rest of the Bolton team was requested to be available for Sunday 18th November.
Sadly the body of David Rayton was located on Saturday 17th November by a member of the public, outside the tasked search areas.
On Sunday 23rd December 2012 at the Clegg Street, Haslingden Base / HQ of Rossendale and Pendle MRT, the daughter Janette, and wife Doreen, of the late Mr John David Rayton, along with Genna Holt (Janette’s friend) met with members of Rossendale and Pendle MRT and our team, to give thanks for helping in the search and also to hand over a substantial donation of £800.00 to those involved.
By previous arrangement and kind agreement the Calder Valley SRT and Oldham MRT who were also present on the search, had decided not to share in the overall donation, so today in agreement with the late Mr John David Rayton’s daughter and wife, the £800.00 donation was handed over to Rossendale and Pendle MRT today, to be shared between them and the Bolton MRT and the Bowland Pennine MRT.
We can now reveal that we have received £266.66p arising from this donation.
We in Bolton MRT extend our condolences once again to the family of the late Mr John David Rayton, and thank them for such a thoughtful and very kind donation to those involved in the search operation.
