Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

13th March 2013

Today three Team Call Out list members; Martin Banks, Dave Marsh, and David Crawford, Trainee Team member Nigel Booth, and Probationary Team member, Martin Battersby, alongside Sasha our Trainee Drowned Victim Search Dog, attended The University of Manchester Well-Being Awareness Day.

Todays event was part of a two week programme of events and activities to promote health, safety and well-being across The University of Manchester’s 39,000 students and 10,500 staff. Martin Banks, (a Human Resources Manager at The University Manchester) had already been involved on Monday 11th March (see website report dated the same) with a presentation on the role of Mountain Rescue in the University environment.

The Team attended alongside colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service (Greater Manchester Area) Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and other Health, Safety and well-being Organisations to help raise awareness amongst Students and Staff about the services in the Community.

Todays event also had people abseiling from the adjacent building and work stations focusing on mental wellbeing, CPR and various aspects of health and fitness.

Throughout the day our team members present were approached by Students, Staff and passing members of the public, who showed great interest in our specialist Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicle BM2 and the array of equipment carried in it, and to enquire about the work of the team, with most paying particular attention to Sasha, our Trainee Drowned Victim Search Dog.

The team wishes to extend its thanks to The University of Manchester for their hospitality today and their invitation to us to attend.
