This evening, at the kind invitation of Bob Williams, Acting Chief Executive of NWAS NHS Trust, our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE was honoured to attend the NWAS NHS Trust Going The Extra Mile ; Staff Awards Ceremony 2013.
Held in the Woodlands Suite at Ribby Hall Village, Lancashire, the ceremony commenced at 18.15hrs with a drinks reception.
At 18.45hrs Real Radio Breakfast Show presenter Glen Hunt commenced proceedings, followed by an opening address by NWAS NHS Trust Chairman Mary Whyham.
Mary’s address focussed on the dedication, commitment and outstanding achievements of all involved in NWAS, from frontline operational staff to the PTS staff, from support services staff to those in the three Emergency Operations Centres, from Community First Responders to members of the Voluntary Car Service.
Mary also kindly made mention of the support to NWAS provided by the mountain rescue teams in the NWAS region (Specifically MRTs in Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cumbria)
A large number of peer nominated awards were made during the evening, with many tales of bravery, mixed with everyday commitment and dedication to patient care and well being.
The awards concluded with a thoughtful closing address by Acting Chief Executive of NWAS NHS Trust Bob Williams.
This was followed by a two course hot buffet dinner.
The entire excellent evening was very kindly totally sponsored by Virgin Media Business, MIS Emergency Systems and Physio Control.
Members of Rossendale and Pendle MRT and Duddon and Furness MRT also attended tonight’s ceremony.
Our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE extends his congratulations to all who were nominated for an award during this evening, and to those who received the awards, all were a credit to NWAS.
