Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

22nd March 2013

The TV, Internet, Twitter, Radio, Newspapers and Facebook were all talking about the snow to come, yet this morning dawned bright and cold with no ‘white stuff’ falling from the skies.

At 10.15hrs this morning our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE was contacted by NWAS (Manchester) EOC Parkway, enquiring as to the teams availability should the predicted heavy snow actual arrive.

Other than general awareness amongst the team membership, no further action was taken.

As the day wore on a few flakes of snow started to appear and then by early evening / nightfall the wind increased as did the snow …… and the team waited, warm in our houses expecting any moment that our pagers would go off, we didn’t have to wait long! See Incident 42.
