At circa 13.35hrs this afternoon, our Mountain Rescue Trailing Search Dog Handler Steve Nelson, was contacted for his specialist assistance, to join with NEWSAR Team in a search operation in the Wrexham area for a missing male, being co-ordinated by North Wales Police.
A request for any available Bolton MRT members was also made, with Steve Nelson passing this onto our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE at 13.46hrs.
In the event our response was organised by Team Call Out Contact Mike Marsh, who paged out the team at 14.16hrs after first gathering further information.
The search involved a 69 years old man, missing from his home in the Trefynant Park area of Acrefair, Wrexham, since Saturday 6th April 2013.
Three team members initially met at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ, Call Out list members Paul Chisholm, Diane Blakeley and Trainee Team member Ashley Kelshaw.
Team member Alan James journeyed directly to the search RVP, as did Steve Nelson with Trailing Search Dog Boris.
At 15.36hrs the team member response was stood down by pager, based upon new Police information, with Steve and Boris still being requested to attend.
During the search, Steve and Boris were accompanied by a member of NEWSAR Team acting as their navigator, all in the presence of North Wales Police Officers and PCSO’s.
Steve returned to his Bury home at 21.15hrs, with North Wales Police enquiries continuing.
