At 21:20 this evening, we were paged by NWAS (Manchester) EOC Parkway, to respond to an incident very near to our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ in the Ladybridge, Heaton area of Bolton.

The response was to the report, received via Greater Manchester Police, of a male having fallen some thirty feet, and now thought to be lying in a ditch in an inaccessible area, possibly surrounded and injured by debris which had fallen from a building. The police had initially asked NWAS (Manchester) to attend, and in turn the police had also contacted Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service in respect of the possibly damaged building.

With our first members arriving on scene, alongside the very quick response of our BM4 Mountain Rescue Land Rover Ambulance vehicle accompanying a Rapid Response Vehicle and an Emergency Ambulance from NWAS (Manchester) at the roadside RVP on Chorley New Road. It was quickly established that the injured male had managed to extricate himself and so the decision was taken to stand down further responding Mountain Rescue resources, at the same time as the arrival of the responding GMFRS vehicles from Bolton Central and Horwich Fire Stations.

Also stood down responding was the NWAS HART team from Merseyside. In total 21 Bolton MRT members responded to this incident; five team members and one team vehicle had arrived at the RVP at the time of the stand-down message, which was sent at 21:32.
