This evening very long serving and experienced Team Call Out list member Diane Blakeley attended as the teams representative, an invitation from the Rotary Club of Turton to their annual ‘Charitable Donations 2013 Ceremony Evening,’ at the Last Drop Village Hotel, Bromley Cross, Bolton.
There follows Diane’s own report of this wonderful evening;
“Tonight I was invited to attend the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Turton at the Last Drop Hotel.”
“Bolton Mountain Rescue Team was one of six charities to be invited along, all of whom had been very kindly selected by the current Turton Rotary Club President Paul Neary as one of his charities for the year.”
“The Rotary Club of Turton, are fantastic valued friends and supporters of the team. In 2011, I gave them an after dinner speech, after which they then visited our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ in 2012.”
“Last year we received a wonderful donation from their President at the time, Alan Smith of £500.00.”
“Paul had invited a range of charities as well as Bolton Mountain Rescue Team to this evening, these were Macmillan Cancer Care, Marie Currie Cancer Care, Intercare Medical Care for Africa, Fort Alice and Bolton Cardiac Support. Each charity was asked to explain the work their charity does. I decided that I would tell everybody about “A week in the life of Bolton MRT”. I told them about our week starting Sunday 8th June 2013 including our late evening/early morning search and ending with us assisting the North West Air Ambulance with an injured mountain biker the following Sunday on the Lyons Den track fringing Darwen Moor.”
“All were amazed at the varied work and the commitment of our members. It was very interesting to hear about all the different charities and all their fantastic work.”
“Paul then presented each the charity with a cheque donation. On behalf of Bolton MRT I received a truly fantastic donation of £500.00, before we all posed for photographs.”
“Paul will also be distributing a number of further donations to Derian House, Help the Heroes, RNLI, Water Aid, Fabrice Muamba Defibrillator Appeal – Turton School and our colleagues from North West Air Ambulance.”
“A thank you again to Paul and all the members of the Rotary Club of Turton for their warm welcome, their continued very much appreciated support of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, the fantastic fundraising they do for our local community and on yet another wonderful and thoughtful donation for Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.”
Including tonight’s absolutely fantastic donation, since September 2008, the kindly Rotarians of Turton Rotary Club have raised an astonishing £2,300.00 in six separate donations to the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, for which we are truly grateful.
