Our close colleagues at Bowland Pennine MRT had spent Saturday 29th June 2013, in assisting Lancashire Constabulary in the search for a missing 23 year old male in the Leyland area.

This morning BPMRT were asked to spend a further day in the continuation of this search effort, as Police concerns (And the obvious concerns of the missing mans family) were mounting since he had been reported missing on Tuesday 25th June 2013, from his home in Leyland.

At 11.46hrs this morning, Phil O’Brien MBE Team Leader of BPMRT contacted our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE for the assistance of the Bolton MRT to join BPMRT in this search operation.

A full team call out was paged at 11.50hrs, and once team members had gathered at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ (Many were already present for our monthly Vehicle and Base Valet day) they departed at circa 13.15hrs, arriving at the Search Control at circa 14.15hrs. (Which was established on Emnie Lane, Leyland)
By 15.00hrs Bolton MRT members were involved in a search of their allocated search areas, including Shruggs Wood and the area to the west of the River Lostock, south of Leyland.

BPMRT were also deployed including their air scenting search dog.

Sadly at circa 17.00hrs the body of the missing man was located near to Schleswig Way in Leyland, by four members of Bowland Pennine MRT.

All Bolton MRT members were recalled from their search areas, and shortly afterwards stood down.

Meanwhile BPMRT stayed on scene, and following the necessary Lancashire Constabulary investigations, then assisted Police Officers with the evacuation of the males body.

The full condolences of both Bolton MRT and Bowland Pennine MRT are extended to the family of the young man involved.

The following resources were utilised in todays search operation;

• Lancashire Constabulary; One Missing Person Search Manager and local Divisional Officers.
• Bowland Pennine MRT; Eight team members, their Mercedes Sprinter Search Control Vehicle ‘Trough 5 Zero’ and one of their Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulances.
• Bolton MRT; Twenty team members with a further one team member stood down on scene, our VW Crafter Van based Incident Control Vehicle, and all four of our Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulances.
• Search and Rescue Dog Association (England); Dog Handler Alison Nicholson of Bowland Pennine MRT and her Air Scenting Mountain Rescue Search Dog ‘Floss.’
