Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

21st July 2013

At 15:42 this afternoon, whilst the team were out in the Cadshaw area undertaking some rope rescue training, the team was contacted by NWAS (Manchester) who were requesting our assistance in the area of Liverpool Castle, Rivington.

A 10 year old female had fallen from a rope swing in the area of the Liverpool Castle on the banks of the Lower Rivington Reservoir. The NWAS crew on scene requested our assistance due to the nature of the surrounding terrain and the distance of the accident location to the ambulance.

Two vehicles with 8 team members on board responded from the Cadshaw area whilst our Deputy Team Leader Geoff Seddon responded from his nearby home address in Horwich.

Geoff arrived on the scene at 16:01 and unlocked a number of access gates which allowed him to drive down the tracks towards Liverpool Castle where he met with the NWAS crew, casualty and her mother who were by this stage walking down the track.

The casualty, suffering from a suspected broken arm and her mother were transported by Geoff to the nearby NWAS Ambulance whilst other responding team vehicles were quickly stood down.
