Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

25th August 2013

Today the Manchester Road Inn at Astley (M29 7EJ) held a Beer festival, with all charity proceeds kindly in aid of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.

The Manchester Road Inn is jointly owned by team members Ashley Kelshaw and Paul Chisholm (and trainee SARDA search dog Bella!).

On display at the Inn throughout the day was our Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicle ’Bolton Mobile 3’ (With ‘sober’ driver present throughout the day!) and experienced Team Call Out List member Mike O’Brien on hand to explain the work of the team.

Alongside Paul, Ashley and Mike were Trainee Team members Chris Weatherhead and Jess Ellsmore.

A grand total of 12 Real Ales, six Ciders (one at 7.5% strength!) were on tap today. Sadly as our team members were on duty, they couldn’t sample any of the drinks on offer! Notwitstanding that, the barbeque with free food for the customers and team members present was very well received!

There was plenty of interest in the team during today’s event from the public present, including interest from a former member of Cheshire Search & Rescue Team.

We are very pleased to announce that the Beer Festival raised £400.00 for the Bolton MRT, which was kindly donated by Manchester Road Inn from the takings of today’s event. Our thanks are expressed to Paul and Ashley and all the customers at the Manchester Road Inn for this very kind donation.
