Demonstrating the excellent links and relationships we have with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, the Bolton MRT was present today to display some of our vehicles and specialist search and rescue equipment at the GMFRS Broughton Community Fire Station Open Day, at Salford.

It is here that our Equipment Officer – Vehicles, Chris Greenhalgh, works as a full time Fire Fighter on Green Watch, and we have also carried out many joint and multi agency search and rescue exercises with the GMFRS Fire Crews based at this busy Fire Station.

Team members Chris Greenhalgh, Mike Marsh, Anna Toole and Alan James were present today, alongside our Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance, call sign ‘Bolton Mobile 3’ and our Incident Control Vehicle, call sign ‘Bolton Mobile 6.’

Present from GMFRS was a range of current operational Fire Appliances on display including both appliances from Broughton, the Operational Support Unit from Atherton, the Hydraulic Platform from Stretford, the Inshore Rescue Boat from Eccles, a Small Incident Unit from Agecroft, a Salvation Army Catering Unit and various PR vehicles including a miniature fire appliance. Also present was NWAS performing CPR Demo’s, the British Red Cross and various refreshments and childrens attractions. There was an RTC casualty extrication display carried out during the afternoon by the Broughton fire crews.

There was a lot of interest shown all day by members of public in both of our vehicles on display and the team members in attendance answered their many questions.
