This evening the team was very pleased to welcome a visit to our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ and to our training session taking place, by the newly appointed GMFRS Mountain Rescue Liaison Officer Watch Manager – Operational Support, Rich Mortimer, who has just taken over from a previous incumbent in this role.
Rich was welcomed initially by team member (And fellow GMFRS Watch Manager colleague) Nigel Booth, who gave Rich a tour of our Base / HQ whilst training was taking place, and a look around our two Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicles garaged at our Base / HQ, and the comprehensive search and rescue equipment carried on each vehicle.
Rich had previous to his visit been presented with a detailed ‘Information Folder’ on the work, role and equipment of the Bolton MRT.
Our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE and Deputy Team Leader Geoff Seddon, then met with Rich to further briefly discuss matters relating to Bolton MRT and its relationship with GMFRS.
Rich in his role as GMFRS Mountain Rescue Liaison Officer, will be invited to the meetings of the Greater Manchester Emergency Services Liaison Group (The next such being hosted by Bolton MRT at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ on Thursday evening, 19.00hrs for 19.30hrs, 5th December 2013) and will liaise with the MRTs in Greater Manchester, regards items of mutual interest and joint working.
As such this role will see him in contact with our colleagues at Rossendale and Pendle MRT, Oldham MRT, Kinder MRT and Glossop MRT.
Rich is based at GMFRS Fire Service Headquarters within Operational Support.
