On Friday 24th September 2010, the team was called out, alongside GMP resources, to search for a missing 83 year old farmer at Brinsop Hall Farm, Brinsop Hall Lane, Westhoughton.
Very sadly during the search the body of the farmer Charles Gordon Gregory was located by Bolton Mountain Rescue Team members.
Charles Gordon Gregory, known to most as Gordon, was buried on 11th October 2010 at Westhoughton Cemetery following a service at St. John’s Church, Wingates, Westhoughton.
It was requested that flowers only be from family members, with donations if desired to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
On 7th January 2011, the team received a number of very thoughtful donations all in the memory of the late Charles Gordon Gregory, totalling a very kind £542.00.
At the time we expressed our condolences to the family, friends, neighbours and colleagues of the late Charles Gordon Gregory, with our sincere thanks to all who made very kind donations to the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team in his ever lasting memory.
Particular condolences were extended to Mr Charles Heeley of Brinsop Hall Farm, the nephew of the late Charles Gordon Gregory.
Today the team has received via the Charities Aid Foundation a very kind and sincere donation from Mr Charles Heeley of Brinsop Hall Farm, Westhoughton, of £285.00.
Mr Heeley has informed us that this very thoughtful donation was raised by the Haigh, Aspull and Blackrod Ploughing Match 2013, which was held at Brinsop Hall farm, Brinsop Hall Lane, Westhoughton, Bolton.
The team would like to express its sincere thanks to all who took part in the Haigh, Aspull and Blackrod Ploughing Match 2013, raising this donation to the team, and to Mr Heeley for his thoughtful kindness in making this sincere donation.
