This evening our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE received the following kind email comments from Matt Donnelly regards our provision of Standby Rescue Cover for this years annual David Staff Memorial Charity Fell Race.
Matt is a very long standing valued friend and supporter of the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, arising from his days with Darwen Dashers Running Club when he first met and started supporting the team.
“Hi Garry, Great cover from your team on Darwen Moors today.”
“Hope you are well and still enjoying your worldwide travel experiences.”
Matt also copied in our Team Leader with the following email to a Lancashire Telegraph reporter, which as it features our Life Vice President and still serving ‘Team Founder member’ Alan James, we thought we would share its contents with our readership;
“I was on the moors for the David Staff Memorial Fell Race today. The full results can be found on line. I’ve attached a couple of photos you may want to use. That is off course unless you had someone covering the
event.”“First picture is of 17 years old Jack Hindle of Blackburn Harriers who finished 5th overall out of a field of 141 fellrunners! Jack was first local runner and 1st Junior u/18 in a time of 34mins 55secs.”
“The second photo really brought a smile to me when I met (Teapot) Alan James of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team. Alan as you can see was supporting a Bob Hat to die for. A tea cosy that any of our Grandmothers
may have knitted.”“I spoke to Alan to ask if he would mind if I passed the image on and he was fine with that.”
