Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

5th December 2013

This evening, our Team President, Bob Hutchinson, accompanied by his wife, Janet, along with Team Support Group members Iain Clarkson, Sarah Hindle, Gillian Gregory and Amanda Strickleton with her friend, Simon, attended the Organ Restoration Concert at Bank Street Chapel, Bolton, which was beautifully decorated for Christmas.

The small but appreciative audience was entertained by young musicians and singers from the Bank Street Chapel School of Music under the direction of their Director of Music and Bank Street Chapel Organist, Keith Bateson.

There was a wide range of music, including modern popular songs and songs from Les Miserables, and cello, violin, organ and piano pieces, highlighting the many skills of the talented young musicians and singers.

The final item on the programme was a rousing piece which demonstrated the restored chapel organ’s ability to raise the roof, and performed by Keith himself.

The proceeds from the evening were to go to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, and thanks to the ticket sales and raffle, the grand total of £178.00 was raised.

This wonderful amount will be added to other events being held throughout the year, including £100.00 raised at a Dickensian evening on 1st December, and will be presented to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team in April 2014.

The chapel members have very kindly and thoughtfully chosen three charities to support, and we are honoured to be one of those chosen.

Many thanks to the adults and children who attended on a wet, cold, and blustery evening, to those who organised and served the refreshments during the interval, to the artistes who entertained us, and finally to Keith Bateson for organising the event.”
