During the below provision of standby rescue cover for the S.I.A.B. International Cross Country 2014 Event at Canon Slade School, Bolton, the team members present dealt with a small number of young competitors who had suffered cuts and bruises in falls in the difficult conditions underfoot.
One sixteen year old female competitor from Glasgow, at the end of her event suffered a medical complaint, combined with the on set of early hypothermia, which required the immediate response of the team including our Doctor.
NWAS (Manchester) were contacted, responding with a Rapid Response Vehicle and an Emergency Ambulance, with the young competitor being stabilised on site and then taken to Royal Bolton Hospital.
