Held at Canon Slade School, Bradshaw Brow, Bolton, today the team was honoured to have provided standby rescue cover for the prestigious S.I.A.B. International Cross Country 2014 Event.
With youths taking part from Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales, in six main events, commencing at 12.30hrs and finishing at circa 14.30hrs today, this event attracted a fantastic field of excellent and very committed young cross country athletes to the Bolton area.
We had nineteen Team Call Out list members present including one of our two Team Doctors, all four of our Team Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulances, with our on scene presence co-ordinated from our Incident Control Vehicle.
The welcoming blue skies at the opening event was quickly replaced by very cold temperatures and heavy to torrential rainfall at times, which only subsided at the end of the event.
The team members present dealt with a small number of minor incidents during the event, and one incident requiring a competitor to be taken to hospital (Please see Incident 32/2014)
We are very pleased to announce that proceeds from the sale of event programmes will be donated by the organisers to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
This is now the third Cross Country event at Canon Slade School that we have covered and provided standby rescue cover, see also website ‘News’ items dated Saturday 1st December 2012 and Saturday 1st February 2014.
