Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

27th March 2014

Early this evening, our Mountain Rescue Trailing Search Dog Boris, his Handler Steve Nelson (A member of SARDA Wales) and colleague Bolton MRT team member Elaine Gilliland (Steve’s usual navigator) were called out to lend their assistance to a search in Cumbria for a missing 20 year old man.

Leaving their home at circa 18.30hrs they journeyed to Windermere Police Station arriving around 20.20hrs for a search briefing.

The missing man was reported as being last seen in Bowness on Windermere around 01.30hrs in the vicinity of the Stag’s Head, whilst out socialising with friends, in the early hours of today, Thursday 27th March.

His disappearance sparked a major search today including Cumbria Constabulary, Langdale Ambleside MRT, Lake District SARDA, Windermere Lake Wardens, National Park rangers and other assets.

Steve, Boris and Elaine carried out their contribution to the search effort, arriving back home around 02.15hrs in the early hours of Friday 28th March 2014.

As of Friday morning 28th March 2014 we understand the missing man has still not been located, with the search on going to locate him.
