At 16.55hrs late this afternoon, we were paged by NWAS (Manchester) EOC Parkway, to assist with an Emergency Ambulance, stuck in soft ground on playing fields in Horwich, after going to the aid of an injured footballer.
Our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE mobilised a small number of team members and team vehicles (Three of our Land Rover vehicles are equipped with winches, and all four have towing strop equipment) but it was our former Deputy Team Leader (Now a Life Vice President) Geoff Seddon and his trusty Nissan X Trail, along with Mark Scott, who both live in Horwich, who were first on scene.
Geoff quickly towed the NWAS Ambulance off the field, which then travelled onwards to Royal Bolton Hospital, with the male footballer on board, who had suffered a very painful knee injury.
Our response was stood down at 17.13hrs, with Geoff and Mark on scene, two Team Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicles responding, and a further eight team members stood down responding, all co-ordianted by our Team Leader in liaison with NWAS EOC Parkway.
