Our third and last serious incident of this Good Friday, commenced with a pager call ay 16.01hrs to the team from NWAS (Manchester) EOC Parkway, following their receipt of a 999 call from a group of young teenagers. One of the teenagers had sustained a lower leg injury.

The team was instructed to meet friends of the injured 14 year old girl involved, at Rivington Hall Barn, to which our Land Rover BM3 and Incident Control Vehicle responded, arriving at 16.12hrs.

The 14 year old girl from Horwich had been walking in the Terraced Gardens in the company of five friends, four other young girls and a boy.

One of the girls friends stayed quite rightly with her, the others went to meet the Ambulance and team at Rivington Hall Barn.

Our Land Rovers BM2 and BM4 were on hold at the top entrances to the Rivington Terraced Gardens, by the base of Rivington Pike, whilst team members at Rivington Hall Barn tried to establish the exact casualty location from the girl’s friends.

By 16.21hrs an Emergency Ambulance from NWAS (Manchester) arrived at Rivington Hall Barn, to meet our BM3 and BM6 personnel.

Two team members walked back up in to the Terraced Gardens with the friends of the injured girl to find the casualty site.

Shortly after this at circa 16:25 our BM4 crew located the casualty in the vicinity of the Japanese Lagoon, Roynton Lane, within the Rivington Terraced Gardens.

This crew immediately commenced treatment of the young teenager’s suspected lower leg fracture, including Entonox gas for her pain.

It was decided to stretcher evacuate the injured girl down Roynton Lane to the rear of Rivington and Blackrod High School, for transfer to the NWAS Emergency Ambulance.

The NWAS Ambulance, and our Incident Control Vehicle BM6 therefore relocated from Rivington Hall Barn to the base of Roynton Lane at the rear of Rivington and Blackrod High School, arriving here at circa 16.40hrs.

By 16.59hrs and after a mountain rescue stretcher evacuation down Roynton Lane by team members from our Land Rovers BM2 and BM4 the young girl had arrived at the NWAS Emergency Ambulance, and was soon on her way to Chorley Hospital.

In total fifteen Team Call out list members were directly involved in this incident.
