Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

19th April 2014

With a long history of team involvement, today eighteen team members, in our four Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulances, our Minibus Ambulance and our Incident Control Vehicle, provided full Standby Rescue Cover for the incredibly long established (Over 100 years!) Annual Rivington Pike Fell Race, for a very long time now run traditionally on Easter Saturday.

Organised by our friends and supporters at Horwich RMI Harriers and Athletics Club, the excellent dry and sunny conditions this year attracted a much larger than normal field of runners, in the numerous junior races and senior race.

Five Junior runs were held, Under 8’s with 31x runners at 13.00hrs, Under 10’s with 64x runners at 13.15hrs, Under 12’s with 75x plus runners, Under 14’s with 75x plus runners at 13.50hrs and the Under 16’s race with 50x runners at 14.10hrs.

The Senior Race took place at 15.00hrs with an amazing 357x runners, taking in a course from Lever Park Avenue to Rivington Pike summit and return.

Team members and Team Vehicles were placed all along this short but very steep Fell Race route today.

Thankfully for us the entire event passed without incident.
