Our weekly training session this evening took the form of three workshop sessions, all taking place at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ, commencing at 20.00hrs ;
Session 1 saw seven Team Call Out list members and Amanda Strickleton and Lee Grice from our Support Group, spending two hours practising with our ‘wound make up simulation equipment.’
Essentially this consists of simulated injuries, which in combination with appropriate make up and a little acting skill, can result in a realistic looking injury.
Open wounds, fractures, amputated digits, eye injuries, lacerations, are but a selection of the many injuries that can be mocked up, and were practised tonight, with no one apparently using the ‘messy’ to clean up blood pump !
Sessions 2 and 3, saw a further seventeen Team Call Out list members in two groups, swapping over after an hour each at each session, which included common rope knots in mountain rescue, and tying onto our Mountain Rescue Stretchers, with the other session concentrating on using our Thermal Image Cameras, which included a practical session in the woodland grounds of our Base / HQ.
A further eight Team Call Out list members were involved this evening in looking at aspects of our future Training Programme (Training Officer Neil Warburton, Elaine Gilliland and Steve Nelson) fitting another team vehicle with new LED lighting (Deputy Team Leader Chris Greenhalgh and Equipment Officer – Vehicles, Neil Aspinal) – see related website ‘News’ report of yesterday, updating and revising our latest Training and Events Programme (Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE and Mike Marsh), the continuing issue of new items of team issue clothing (Co-ordinated by Mike Marsh) administration relating to our five most recent incidents (Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE) and Team financial matters and accounting (Martin Banks our Team Treasurer)
A busy night all round for the thirty two Team Call Out list members present and two Support Group members present.
