Yesterday evening was the AGM of our colleagues at Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team, and as with our recent AGM, a number of their posts were up for election.
Included within these posts was the position of Team Leader, Bowland Pennine MRT, which up to this AGM was occupied by Phil O’Brien MBE.
With Phil not standing for re-election, Kev Camplin was elected to the esteemed and honoured position of Team Leader, Bowland Pennine MRT.
Kev joined Bowland Pennine MRT in 2002, and up to his election as BPMRT’s latest Team Leader, held the post of Deputy Team Leader.
Phil O’Brien, aged 55, and originally from South Wales, is now almost (but for his accent) an honorary Lancastrian! and in 2013 was made a Member of the British Empire for services to Bowland Pennine MRT.
Phil O’Brien came to mountain rescue from a background in the Scout Association and has been a member of the Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team since 1986, holding the position of Team Leader since 2005 for nine years to date.
All the Bolton MRT offer their full congratulations to Kev Camplin on his new appointment as Bowland Pennine MRT Team Leader, and well wishes to Phil O’Brien in his retirement from the same post, and in his words, “Becoming a BPMRT Back Bencher !”
