This morning during our monthly vehicle and base valet day, we welcomed a visit by Marjorie Haywood from our highly valued supportive friends of the Rotary Club of Bolton Lever, to our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ.
She kindly attended today on behalf of all her colleagues from Bolton Lever Rotary Club to present us with a wonderful cheque donation, arising out of the Rotarians work in providing assistance to the Ironman UK 4th August 2013 (Bolton) Event, and linked to competitors raising sponsorship for Rotary supported causes and charities, and in turn the Rotary Club of Bolton Lever nominating (Successfully) Bolton MRT to be one of the charity beneficiaries of such monies raised.
Our Team Equipment Officer – Vehicles Neil Aspinall initially welcomed Marjorie from Bolton Lever Rotary Club, who then met with other team members present today including our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE.
Accepting their very kind donation of £1,500.00 in front of the assembled team membership, Garry and the team members present thanked the Rotarians, via Marjorie, for their continued valued kindness in supporting the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
The team welcomes its links with, and the tremendous support we receive, from all the local Rotary Clubs, and once again we find ourselves in the ‘nice’ position of being able to say thank you to all at the Rotary Club of Bolton Lever for helping us in this thoughtful manner.
Please also see website ‘News’ reports dated 7th August 2013, 8th February 2011, and 26th September 2007, when the Rotary Club of Bolton Lever respectively donated to us the wonderfully kind amounts of £567.00, £350.00 and £500.00.
As a footnote in talking to Marjorie Haywood today, it turns out that she is the mother-in-law of former team callout list member Paul Shuttleworth, fondly remembered by those team members who still recall Paul from his days in the team with such characters as Lee Budworth, Glyn McGann, Phil Beswick and other members of Big Verns gang!
