This evening saw the annual Two Lads Fell Race, organised by Horwich RMI Harriers as part of the Horwich Festival of Racing.
The race is over 5.25 miles and takes in 900 feet of ascent.
Due to the team assisting Greater Manchester Police with a missing persons search (see incident 57/2014), we called on the assistance of our neighbouring teams from Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team and Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team to cover for the fell race in our absence.
We understand Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue team dealt with an runner participating in the race who sustained an ankle injury. This does not appear in our incident statistics.
We would like to thank the Rossendale & Pendle and Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Teams for covering the race on our behalf. One member of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team was also present for the race.
This Sunday 15th June, the team will be providing safety cover at the Horwich Festival of Racing events taking place in the centre of Horwich.
