Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

18th June 2014

Not previously reported on our website, was a letter received on Saturday 7th June 2014 by our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE from our friends at Darwen Rotary Club, following our provision of standby rescue cover for their Tower Trudge Sponsored Walk on Sunday 1st June 2014.

Gil Riley, Secretary, Rotary Club of Darwen, wrote;

“Dear Garry, May I, on behalf of the Rotary Club of Darwen, thank you and your team for your help and support at the tower Trudge on Sunday.

The presence of your team was very welcome and reassuring both to walk Marshalls and to walkers.

Fortunately your skills were not called upon by any incident on the day but I see from your website that you had a busy weekend.

The profile of the walkers was significantly different to previous years.

There were far fewer groups of Cubs and Brownies and more groups of adults walking for specific charities.

From the feedback we received it is safe to say that they raised well over £4,000.00 for charities and youth groups.

Thank you once again and I look forward to working with you again in the future.

Yours sincerely, Gil Riley, Secretary, Rotary club of Darwen.

On Monday 16th June this week, our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE received the following email update from Gil Riley;

“The amount raised has been re-estimated at over £6,000.00 with the date for next years walk set at Sunday 31st May 2015.” (Where once again we’ll be providing standby rescue cover)
