Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

23rd July 2014

Tonight the team’s Wednesday evening training exercise took in the strenuous ascent of Winter Hill from the Wards’ Reservoir car park at Belmont.

Starting at 260m above sea level, 20 team members were timed as they set off in the very warm summer’s evening conditions to reach the summit trig point of Winter Hill at 456m, each carrying their usual full hill kit (helmet, first aid kit, map, compass and various odds and ends for the average day on the hill)

On arrival at the trig point, the team members present were checked to ensure that they were indeed carrying all of the requisite items (no cheating allowed!) and were then despatched on a small navigation exercise over Rivington Moor in the area surrounding the Winter Hill TV transmitter.

At the conclusion of the navigation exercise, all returned to the Wards Reservoir car park and then moved on to some much needed refreshment down at the Belmont Bull public house!
