Tonight Team Call Out list members Gill Leigh, Matthew Hailwood, Jess Ellsmore and trainee member Blitz (our trainee search dog) were pleased to welcome to our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ twelve members of Horwich St John Ambulance Cadets along with four of their leaders.
They began the evening with a short video outlining the work of the team, then went outside for a demonstration from Blitz and how he is trained to find a missing person through air scenting. Following this the group explored the contents of one of our Land Rovers, trying out the vacuum mattress and of course the sirens and flashing blue lights!
On returning indoors the Cadets then had a thorough look at the contents or our first aid trauma sacks, demonstrating their knowledge of some of our medical equipment.
Finally the group tried their hand at setting up our Bell Mountain Rescue Stretcher and had a go at carrying one of their members after securing and fastening him in.
Throughout the evening the Cadets were polite, well-behaved and asked some thoughtful questions.
We hope they found the evening entertaining and now know a little more about Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
