At 09:58 this morning the team was paged by North West Ambulance Service (Lancashire) EOC Broughton Air Desk regards an incident in the Wigan area.
The call was answered by our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE who was informed that the team was required to assist an NWAS crew with a female casualty, understood to be in cardiac arrest. In liaison with NWAS EOC, Garry determined that the RVP was in the vicinity of Bottling Wood, within Haigh Lower plantations, in the Wigan area.
At 10:09 Garry sent a more detailed full team callout message, by which time team members Steve Fletcher and our Deputy Team Leader Chris Greenhalgh were already en-route to collect both our Ladybridge Hall Base/HQ based Land Rovers.
Shortly after the pager message, NWAS EOC directly contacted our Team Leader to inform him that ambulance personnel on scene had managed to evacuate the woman involved to the NWAA air ambulance which had landed nearby and the team was therefore stood down by pager at 10:13.
We understand that two NWAS rapid response vehicles and an NWAS emergency ambulance attended alongside Helimed.
At the time of our stand-down, two of our Land Rovers were about to go mobile with at least twelve team members stood down responding (at the time of stand-down, team member Nick Berry was 1 minute from attending the RVP).
