Tonight we were pleased to welcome to our base 6th Farnworth St George’s Scout Group. The group of 13 scouts and 5 leaders were met at our Ladybridge base by experienced Team members Gill Leigh, Matthew Hailwood, Paul Copley (Equipment Officer – Base and Catering), Nigel Booth (Equipment Officer – Medical) and Jess Ellsmore with trainee search dog Blitz.

The evening began with a short talk given by Matt followed by a film showing the types of work carried out by Mountain Rescue. Following this the scouts were split into two separate groups to venture outside to find out more about the work of Blitz and search dogs, along with discovering the contents of our vehicles.

Both groups then returned indoors to study in more detail the contents of our trauma first aid kit and have a go at CPR on one of our training dummies. They also put together one of our Bell Stretchers and carried one of their members on it.

The scouts were an absolute credit to their leaders, listening carefully and showing an interest in the information they were given throughout the evening. We hope they now know a little more about the work of Bolton Mountain rescue Team.

At the conclusion of tonight’s lecture, the 6th Farnworth (St. George’s) Scout Troop passed on their thanks and made a very kind £20 donation to Bolton MRT.
